✍🏼 🇦🇺 Australian talent Lucinda Stewart signs a two-year contract with Liv AlUla Jayco Continental team

Liv AlUla Jayco Continental Team has strengthened its roster with the signing of Australian talent Lucinda Stewart for the next two seasons (2025 and 2026). After showing great potential, the 19-year-old will be given every chance to develop further with the support of GreenEDGE Cycling.

The ambitious rider from Melbourne finished on the podium of the Région Pays de la Loire Tour – Féminin (1.2) in France this year and has already gained experience on the WorldTour circuit despite her young age. In this year’s challenging RideLondon Classique, a UCI Women’s WorldTour level race, she made it to the top 20 in the general classification and finished fourth in the youth classification while the race had a strong field of contenders.

In addition to her cycling career, Stewart is studying environmental science at Deakin University. Yet the motivated Australian is keen to develop further as a rider and is convinced that Liv AlUla Jayco’s Continental Team is an ideal environment for that.

“Through my agent Matthew Wilson who has raced for GreenEDGE Cycling in the past, I got in touch with Liv AlUla Jayco. When there was an opportunity to join the team, I felt no hesitation. From the outside it looks like a professional environment with great resources and a great management. There is a strong focus on development, and I think that is very crucial, especially for Australian riders who are keen to bridge the gap with the world’s top.”

It feels very special to be part of an Australian team that, with the support of Gerry Ryan, has been championing the future of women’s cycling for many years. I want to do everything I can to repay the confidence I get with a positive contribution to the team. I want to fit well into the team in the short term and contribute to success. Once opportunities arrive to go for success myself, I would like to grab them. For the long term, I hope this switch is a good steppingstone up to the WorldTour.

I like a fast, hard race with smaller country climbs and a reduced bunch finish. That is the type of races in which I have performed well this year. Equally, I like the big bunch finishes you often see in Belgium and the Netherlands. Those are often very chaotic, and I can handle that well. At the same time, I’m still young and will have to discover what will be my real specialties in the long run.

This year I trained in Girona in Spain and travelled from there to the European races. That will also be the case next season. European cycling is different from Australian cycling. And to be a professional rider, going to Europe and doing the big races here is a must. It’s quite a steep learning curve. But in my second European season this year, I have made good progression. I feel I can still improve a lot.”

Eric van den Boom – Team manager Continental Team Liv AlUla Jayco
“Over the last few months, I have got to know Lucinda Stewart as a very dedicated, ambitious rider who knows what she wants. Above all, she is talented, which is reflected in several good results. With our coaching and development programme, we would like to support her to become an even stronger, more complete rider. We offer her the pathway towards the top of women’s cycling. All the necessary ingredients for this are in place and with her drive she can definitely reach very far.”
