In his World Tour debut, Alan took victory in the South African Time Trial Championships and came close to winning a couple of stages in his first race with the team at the AlUla Tour. The rest of his season saw Alan alternate between road and mountain bike competitions with the 29-year-old quickly finding his feet in the WorldTour road peloton. Last September, with a powerful solo attack on the Crans Montana course, Hatherly confirmed his title as Cross Country Olympic (XCO) world champion for the second consecutive time.
