Nadia Gontova, Erin Boothman, Ben Wiggins, and Adam Rafferty have delivered GreenEDGE Cycling four national time trial titles in a day.
After finishing third last year, Gontova claimed the Canadian time trial champion’s jersey for Liv AlUla Jayco, her first national title.
On a beautiful sunny day, over a fairly simple course of nearly 28 km in Saint-Georges, Quebec, the 25-year-old from Richmond defeated Paula Findlay by just over one minute for a commanding victory.
There was great news for GreenEDGE Cycling’s development teams, too. In the afternoon, on the streets of the Welsh village of Lampeter, 21-year-old Ben Wiggins (Hagens Berman Jayco) won the under-23 men’s time trial title. Meanwhile, the promising young Scottish rider Boothman (Liv AlUla Jayco Women’s Continental team) triumphed in the women’s event by almost two minutes.
Rafferty then added another title for the Hagens Berman Jayco squad when he took the Irish U23 time trial victory by 46 seconds over the next best rider.

“It feels really special to win my first national championship. I wasn’t sure how I’d go after a big block of racing, but I had a good day out and I’m happy with my ride. Today definitely gives me good confidence going into the road race on Saturday.”
