Team Jayco AlUla are ready for the 2025 Tour de Suisse with a stellar team that boast Vuelta a España podium finisher Ben O’Connor, who is set to make his debut appearance at the UCI WorldTour event, and Swiss champion Mauro Schmid, hoping for a strong showing in his home race.
The eight-day event kicks off next Sunday, 15th June, this year with fewer big mountains and more short but steep climbs on the menu.
Alongside the leading duo will be Australian champion Luke Durbridge and Italian rider Filippo Zana, the latter coming off the back of a solid Giro d’Italia. Three very experienced domestic riders in Austrian Patrick Gamper and German rider Jasha Sütterlin, plus young German Felix Engelhardt who rounds out the team and have the task of protecting the team’s leaders during the demanding race.

“Obviously, Tour de Suisse is one of the highlights of my season and means a lot to me. This year will also very special because I will be at the start wearing the national championship jersey and this is one more reason to get good results. My shape is good and I think I had a good training camp recently. Of course, I haven’t raced for quite a long period so I imagine it will take some time to get back into the right race pace. I am looking forward to Tour de Suisse it’s an ideal preparation for the Tour de France but first, I hope that I can already perform well on my home roads.”

“I expect a very close race between the GC contenders, and, at the same time, I think it will offer opportunities for those riders who have the strength and courage to attack. Our team will have two points of reference: Ben O’Connor and Mauro Schmid. Ben will be leading the Tour de Suisse for a good result in the final ranking but also as preparation for the Tour de France. Mauro for sure will try to show off that Swiss national jersey back in Switzerland.”
