Wyllie claims New Zealand time trial championship title in dominant style

Liv AlUla Jayco rider Ella Wyllie dominated the New Zealand time trial championshipsto claim her second elite title against the clock.

The 23-year-old powered around the 24.4km course in a time of 37:46 to take the victory by almost 30 seconds over her nearest rival.

Wyllie’s attention will now switch to the 122km road race as she attempts to reclaim the crown she last won in 2024.

Ella Wyllie:
“It’s really special to win today in front of family and friends. I have been working on my time trialing ability with the team and it’s awesome to see the pay off. There is a lot of behind-the-scenes action for this race well before race day. A huge thanks to all involved.

It is always special coming back home to do what I do for a living thousands of kilometres away on the other of the world. There’s a bit of pressure but I think the pressure is a privilege because I am doing what I love.

I had not given much thought to wearing the national jersey on the WorldTour. That is pretty emotional. I can’t wait to rep the fern in some big time trials this year in Europe and do New Zealand proud!”
