In what would usually be a reduced group, fast and flat finish, this year, the race will finish up the short but punchy VAM-Berg climb.

Liv AlUla Jayco Line-Up:
Georgia Baker (AUS)
Teniel Campbell (TTO)
Georgie Howe (AUS)
Jeanne Korevaar (NED)
Letizia Paternoster (ITA)
Silke Smulders (NED)

Jeanne Korevaar:
“I really like to race in the Netherlands. Nowadays, it’s harder to organize races in this area so when they manage to arrange it, I appreciate it more. What makes it a bit better is having family who can come over to watch as it’s circumstances I’m used to. I also like to race in Dutch weather! I’m feeling really good in the team. It’s enjoyable to be stimulated by a new environment. Since the start of the season, we ride naturally together as a team and step by step we are getting closer to the results. The race on Sunday will be really hectic from the start as we ride narrow roads all day. It’s a bit similar as the Dutch Championships last year on the VAM berg and my experience is intense racing. I expect that we must be really attentive in the race and as duration will follow, it will be harder and harder and with the VAM berg and some wind splits will be made. I hope we can race in the front and play out our numbers in the final.“

Letizia Paternoster:
“I expect a lot from Drenthe. I feel good so I´m happy to be in the team. I think we have a strong squad and I’m super motivated for a good result for me and for the team. My hip injury is better so I´m happy about that and my training has been great at home so we will see what will be. We know that Drenthe is always a chaotic race. I did this race last year where it snowed which was a bit different, so I don´t expect there to be snow this year. It´s a long race so anything can happen and I´m ready to fight to the finish to take a good result. This year there is a finish line up hill on a small climb so I’m excited and happy about this finish and I´m ready. My team are also in great shape and I’m ready to work together well with them and I have very high expectations from us this weekend.“

Wim Stoetinga – Sport Director:
“I expect an aggressive race from the start because we’re entering the local lap already after six kilometres and from there on it’s twisty, open roads and of course the famous Vamberg. With a new part this year, it will be a totally different race than the past years and when you ride aggressive from the start, you will ride for the win. This means that an early break with some stronger riders will have a chance to ride in to the final. It’s all about positioning the whole day. We have Letizia now as one of our leaders for the final but before, the others have a chance to be in a break and we should also be active ourselves on these laps. It’s better to do it yourself than wait for someone to do it.“

2024 Ronde van Drenthe – Race Details:
Sunday, 10th March: Assen – Vamberg – 157kms

Photo: Sprint Cycling

Liv AlUla Jayco women return to northern Europe for the next Women’s WorldTour one-day race, Ronde van Drenthe, on Sunday, 10th March.
