{"id":46385,"date":"2024-05-08T06:54:38","date_gmt":"2024-05-08T06:54:38","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/greenedgecycling.com\/2024\/?p=46385"},"modified":"2024-05-09T16:16:52","modified_gmt":"2024-05-09T16:16:52","slug":"wyllie-garcia-gaskjenn-give-liv-alula-jayco-options-aplenty-at-itzulia-women","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/greenedgecycling.com\/2026\/wyllie-garcia-gaskjenn-give-liv-alula-jayco-options-aplenty-at-itzulia-women\/","title":{"rendered":"Wyllie, Garc\u00eda, G\u00e5skjenn give Liv AlUla Jayco options aplenty at Itzulia Women"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>Liv AlUla Jayco<\/strong> heads to the three-day <strong>Itzulia Women<\/strong> with a plethora of cards to play including Spanish champion <strong>Mavi Garc\u00eda<\/strong>, New Zealand champion <strong>Ella Wyllie<\/strong>, and Norwegian pocket rocket <strong>Ingvild G\u00e5skjenn<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Wyllie and Garc\u00eda will share the team leadership as they both target a strong result in the overall classification. Meanwhile, G\u00e5skjenn will be looking to build on a superb spring campaign and hunting stage wins.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>There are climbs galore across the three days of racing in the Basque Country. Starting in Vitoria-Gasteiz on 10 May, the race will conclude with the queen stage, featuring the iconic Jaizkibel ascent, around San Sebastian on 12 May.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Joining Wyllie, Garc\u00eda, and G\u00e5skjenn this week will be a trio of strong riders in <strong>Caroline Andersson<\/strong>, <strong>Ur\u0161ka \u017digart<\/strong>, and <strong>Amber Pate<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Liv AlUla Jayco line-up:<\/span><br>Caroline Andersson (SWE)<br>Mavi Garc\u00eda (SPA)<br>Ingvild G\u00e5skjenn (NOR)<br>Amber Pate (AUS)<br>Ella Wyllie (NZL)<br>Ur\u0161ka \u017digart (SLO)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>Ella Wyllie:<\/strong><\/span><br>\u201cI\u2019m looking forward to being back racing at Itzulia with Ingvild, Mavi and Caroline who have just finished the Vuelta and Ur\u0161ka and Amber fresh from good training. It\u2019s a beautiful part of Spain to be racing in and we\u2019ll be expecting aggressive racing. The first two stages are different than last year and will make things interesting but it\u2019s also nice to see the Jaizkibel climb on the final stage included too.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>Shawn Clarke (Sport Director):<\/strong><\/span><br>\u201cIt should be a great race. We\u2019ve got a really strong team, and all of our best climbers are coming to this race so we\u2019re feeling really confident coming into it. While it is a race for the climbers, there are no mountain top finishes so we will have to be adaptable and we plan to race really hard. We\u2019re coming in with Mavi and Ella as co-leaders for the GC, but we\u2019ve seen in the Ardennes and the Vuelta Femenina that Ingvild is climbing really well, and she\u2019s one of the quickest finishers at the moment.
