{"id":46404,"date":"2024-05-09T16:41:17","date_gmt":"2024-05-09T16:41:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/greenedgecycling.com\/2024\/?p=46404"},"modified":"2024-05-09T16:41:18","modified_gmt":"2024-05-09T16:41:18","slug":"groenewegen-runs-second-in-tight-finish-in-the-tour-de-hongrie","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/greenedgecycling.com\/2026\/groenewegen-runs-second-in-tight-finish-in-the-tour-de-hongrie\/","title":{"rendered":"Groenewegen runs second in tight finish in the Tour de Hongrie"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Dutch sprinter <strong>Dylan Groenewegen<\/strong> took a tight second place in a fast and physical finish to stage two of the <strong>Tour de Hongrie<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The day always looked set to conclude with a fast finish into Kazincbarcika and the peloton made no mistake as they swept the remains of the breakaway inside 10km to go.<br><br>In what was a technical and hectic finale, Groenewegen was forced to use all his strength as he battled for road position inside the final kilometre. As the sprint opened up the 30-year-old went head-to-head with Mark Cavendish for the win, with the latter narrowly holding off the Team Jayco AlUla rider in closing metres.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>Dylan Groenewegen:<\/strong><\/span><br><em>&#8220;The team did a great job today, and the boys did what they could. We know that without Campbell Stewart, who crashed yesterday and had to stop, we missed a guy for the last kilometre. It meant I had to fight a bit too much in the wind and I was missing the fresh legs in the last 200 metres, but we know that the big goal is this summer and we are going in a good direction.&#8221;<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">2024 Tour de Hongrie &#8211; Stage 2:<br><\/span><\/strong>1.
