{"id":47344,"date":"2024-06-27T16:15:33","date_gmt":"2024-06-27T16:15:33","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/greenedgecycling.com\/2024\/?p=47344"},"modified":"2024-06-27T16:15:34","modified_gmt":"2024-06-27T16:15:34","slug":"anders-foldager-storms-to-superb-first-pro-win-at-okolo-slovenska-takes-over-race-lead","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/greenedgecycling.com\/2026\/anders-foldager-storms-to-superb-first-pro-win-at-okolo-slovenska-takes-over-race-lead\/","title":{"rendered":"Anders Foldager storms to superb first pro win at Okolo Slovenska &amp; takes over race lead"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>Anders Foldager<\/strong> continued <strong>Team Jayco AlUla<\/strong>\u2019s perfect streak at the 2024 <strong>Okolo Slovenska<\/strong>, taking an impressive first professional win and the leader\u2019s jersey on stage two.<br>\u00a0<br>After the squad powered to victory in the opening team time trial on Wednesday evening, Foldager topped the competition on the uphill finale in Hlohovec.<br>\u00a0<br>The win sees him take over the race leader\u2019s yellow jersey from his teammate <strong>Max Walscheid<\/strong>, who set Foldager up perfectly going into the final climb. <strong>Mauro Schmid<\/strong> and <strong>Callum Scotson<\/strong> sit just behind Foldager in the overall classification, locking out the three top spots in the GC.<br>\u00a0<br>Stage two featured a rolling parcours with five classified climbs between Nitra and Hlohovec. Three riders formed the breakaway early on while the pre-stage favourites, including the Australian squad, bided their time in the bunch.<br>\u00a0<br>After a big pull from the peloton, the race came together with just under 10 kilometres to go. Team Jayco AlUla were ever-present at the front of the race\u00a0and Walscheid helped Foldager into the perfect place as the bunch exploded on the rise to the finish.<br>\u00a0<br>The 22-year-old from Denmark played his cards perfectly, catching and passing several struggling riders\u00a0who had made their move too early. He crossed the line with a clear gap over the rest and both hands in the air in celebration.<br>\u00a0<br><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Anders Foldager:<\/span><\/strong><br><em>&#8220;It&#8217;s unbelievable to be on top of the podium today after a really hard start to\u00a0the year! Today was a warm and long day, and the guys did a fantastic job out there!
