{"id":49794,"date":"2025-03-21T08:06:26","date_gmt":"2025-03-21T08:06:26","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/greenedgecycling.com\/2024\/?p=49794"},"modified":"2025-03-26T19:06:38","modified_gmt":"2025-03-26T19:06:38","slug":"oconnor-leads-experienced-team-jayco-alula-line-up-into-volta-a-catalunya","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/greenedgecycling.com\/2026\/oconnor-leads-experienced-team-jayco-alula-line-up-into-volta-a-catalunya\/","title":{"rendered":"O\u2019Connor leads experienced Team Jayco AlUla line-up into Volta a Catalunya"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Australian <strong>Ben O\u2019Connor<\/strong> returns to action as he leads a strong and experienced <strong>Team Jayco AlUla<\/strong> at the <strong>Volta Ciclista a Catalunya <\/strong>starting on Monday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The 29-year-old lines up off the back of a gruelling Paris-Nice and he\u2019ll be supported by a robust climbing group across the seven days of racing in northern Spain.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Veteran <strong>Alessandro De Marchi<\/strong> and Dutchman <strong>Koen Bouwman<\/strong> will bring with them a wealth of experience as well as their climbing abilities alongside Ethiopian talent <strong>Hagos Berhe<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Danish trio <strong>Chris Juul-Jensen<\/strong>, <strong>Asbj\u00f8rn Hellemose<\/strong> and <strong>Anders Foldager<\/strong> will each continue their spring racing programmes, with latter also giving the team options in the fast finishes, while Juul-Jensen has proved to be one of the most dependable domestiques in the pro peloton.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><u>Team Jayco AlUla at Volta a Catalunya<\/u><\/strong><br>Hagos Berhe (ETH)<br>Koen Bouwman (NED)<br>Alessandro De Marchi (ITA)<br>Ander Foldager (DEN)<br>Asbj\u00f8rn Hellemose (DEN)<br>Chris Juul-Jensen (DEN)<br>Ben O\u2019Connor (AUS)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Chris Juul-Jensen:<br><\/span><\/strong><em>\u201cIt goes without saying that with a squad like ours, there\u2019s plenty of reason to be motivated and expect and hope for a good result, both stage wise with Anders and with the GC in mind for Ben.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>I think everyone is looking forward to seeing what Ben can achieve during the week in Catalunya. It\u2019s a hard race, but it suits him, and he\u2019s motivated for sure, and hungry to get a big result and his first for the team.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>We\u2019re all excited to help him achieve that goal and I can\u2019t wait. It\u2019s going to be good fun and serious racing with a good group of lads, everyone has been training hard and we\u2019re now starting a very important part of the season and it\u2019s no secret that we\u2019re racing for top results.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Steve Cummings (Sports Director):<br><\/span><\/strong><em>\u201cBen is coming into the race off the back of a tough Paris-Nice, he\u2019s really motivated and we\u2019re hoping he can take a step forward from last week. There\u2019s also some good opportunities for Anders in the fast finishes and reduced group sprints.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Bouwman is coming back from a small injury, so it will be good to have him back and we have an experienced roster with the likes of De Marchi and Juul-Jensen, some good road captains.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>On the GC we will try and aim for the best result we can with Ben, stage three in particular will be a big test and as I said, the reduced sprints look good on paper for Anders.
