Liv AlUla Jayco takes strong third place in close TTT opener at La Vuelta Femenina

Liv AlUla Jayco kick started their 2025 La Vuelta Femenina campaign with a strong podium finish in the opening team time trial around Barcelona.

The early Sunday rain had cleared by the start of the stage, giving the riders dry and fast roads for the short and punchy 8.1km test against the clock.

Starting in the final wave of teams, Liv AlUla Jayco went out quick and clocked the fastest time at the intermediate split. The gap to the other teams only grew as the course went on and the Aussie squad topped the timing sheets as they hit the finish line with a time of 9:33.

It was a tense wait as the remaining teams completed their efforts with Lidl-Trek eventually taking the win by a slim three seconds over the squad. With some big days to come as the race goes on, the result puts the team on a strong footing for what’s to come.

Georgia Baker
“Third place is awesome for us and that was definitely a goal for us to get onto the podium in the TTT. I think we rode it really well and it sets us nicely for the coming six stages.”

Gene Bates (Sport Director)
“We can really focus on the positives, everybody is riding really well, and it was a strong team ride. To be on the podium, we couldn’t have asked for a better start than that. Of course, it’s bittersweet to go so close to winning the stage and it not happening, but it’s still a very good performance to start with and puts us in a good place to begin the race. Everybody is walking away really confident now, which is all we can ask for.”
