The Liv AlUla Jayco Continental Team can look back on a successful Giro Mediterraneo in Rosa with Matilde Vitillo winning the general classification, while Emma Jeffers finished second on the stage.
In the final stage, which started and finished in Caivano, the classification was not in danger. Vitillo, who had started the day as the race leaver, even gained time in two intermediate sprints.
The day ended with a bunch sprint, and this time, Emma Jeffers crossed the line in second place, after being the fastest on Saturday.
Liv AlUla Jayco’s Continental Team returns home with a well-filled suitcase full of trophies. Top of the prizes at the three-day race are the overall win and a stage victory on day two.
Vitillo is also the best Italian rider, while Jeffers wins the points classification. Australian champion Lucinda Stewart also gained enough time in the intermediate sprints during the final stage to secure the young rider classification and Liv AlUla Jayco is also the best team.
Matilde Vitillo
“The Giro Mediterraneo in Rosa didn’t start the way we hoped. We all felt for Noä Jansen, who had been chasing a victory all season and was so close. As a team, we were eager for revenge and extra motivated. I am super happy that we have been so successful and dedicate the victory to Noä.
In the final stage, we were very focused again. I’m not a sprinter by nature, but I still got mixed up in the intermediate sprints. With such a strong team around me and good lead-outs, I managed to gain seconds and increase my lead in the general classification. I am incredibly proud of what we have achieved as a team.”
