Team Jayco AlUla power to second in Paris-Nice team time trial and make key GC gains

Team Jayco AlUla powered home to an impressive second place in the stage three team time trial at Paris-Nice, gaining important seconds in the overall classification.

The team had gone into the stage with high hopes but the ride to second exceeded those early expectations. Michael Matthews led the squad across the line with general classification leaders Chris Harper and Luke Plapp.

With the result, Matthews climbs to fifth overall in the general classification at 15 seconds while Harper and Plapp are right behind him on the same time.

It places the team in a good position going into the latter part of the race with key time gained on several top GC riders in the pack.

“It was a solid ride from the team, and I think that we did the best that we could, I’m really happy with that. It was pretty challenging out there, there were a couple of short climbs earlier on and then the last 10 kilometers were pretty fast and hard.”
